Mittenmang?

We’d love to hear from you!

Here you’ll find everything you need to know about our enrolment process and requirements. If it all feels like a good fit, just send us a quick email at neuekinder@kila‑mittenmang.de with a few words about your family and your child and we’ll be in touch as soon as we can!

Requirement Checklist

Your child must be at least 2.5 years old

If your child is not at least two and a half at the time of registration, unfortunately, we will have to put them on the waitlist until they are. You may have better luck finding a "Tagesmutter" in the meantime. You can find this on the Berlin Kita-Navigator site.

The Registration Process

Ready to get started? We’re so glad you’re interested! Just send us an email at neuekinder@kila-mittenmang.de letting us know a bit about your child and your interest in joining Mittenmang. Feel free to include any questions — we’ll get back to you as soon as we can!

Families with a child who fits the group’s age and gender mix will receive an email invitation to a meet-up with one or two of the parents (members of the board). It’s a great chance to learn more about how our daycare works and what it means to be part of this unique, parent-run community. After the meeting, the participating parents will talk things over and decide whether it feels like a good fit — for your family and for ours.

Next, we invite you and your child to visit Mittenmang during our regular hours for a relaxed get-to-know-you meeting with the educators. It’s a chance for everyone- child, parents, and educators to connect and get a feel for each other.

During the conversation, we’ll chat about things that help us better understand your child, like their place in the family, daycare experience, languages spoken at home, or anything else that might be important.

After the visit, the team and our board come together to decide on new admissions. We aim to create a balanced group, including a good mix of girls and boys across age groups to support a healthy group dynamic for all the kids.

The team and board meet to select the children for our group.

Before the new daycare year begins, we host a parents’ evening for all incoming families. It’s a great opportunity to meet the educators, connect with other parents, and hear from members of the daycare board. Our team will share insights into how we work, what everyday life at Mittenmang looks like, and how the settling-in process works. We’ll also go over a few helpful guidelines that help keep things running smoothly for everyone.

During your child’s first few weeks at Mittenmang, you will accompany them to help ease the transition and create a sense of safety in their new surroundings. Each educator spends focused one-on-one time with your child, building trust and forming a strong connection from the very beginning. Step by step, you’ll gently support your child in gaining independence, always at their own pace. Before we begin, we’ll walk you through the entire process. This thoughtful approach has helped many children grow into confident, happy members of our group.
